This hike is a challenging, lollipop hike of approximately 3 miles meeting at the large parking lot at the Timberlin Golf course in Berlin CT. (GPS Ref: 330 Southington Road, Berlin, CT). The Hike Leader, Phil Wilsey, is the CFPA Trail Manager for the Metacomet Trail section through Timberlin Park. We will meet to start the hike at the gate in the back parking lot, to the left past the clubhouse, and carpool to the Timberlin Picnic Pavilion. The hike includes a few short but steep elevation gains. The route incorporates using the Blue blazed Metacomet Trail, the Blue/Red blazed Metacomet Connector Trail and the Green blazed Amelia Green Trail. We will see an example of one of the many bridge projects that the CFPA has built throughout the state to cross brooks and wet areas. The ridge line offers many fine views South towards West Peak and to the West overlooking numerous fruit orchards. We will be using an unimproved trail to connect from the Metacomet Trail to the Amelia Green Trail. Sturdy shoes or boots and trekking poles are recommended. Meet at 9:45 for a prompt 10:00 Start. DIRECTIONS: From junction of Rtes. 372 and 71A at New Britain/Berlin line, take Rte. 71A (Chamberlain Hwy) South 2.8 miles to Rte. 364 (Southington Rd.) on right. Follow Rte. 364 West 0.6 miles to Park entrance on right, (GPS Ref: 330 Southington Road, Berlin, CT). Meet at the gate in the back parking lot, to the left past the clubhouse.
