Edward Whalley and William Goffe were two of the regicides signing the death warrant of King Charles I. When his son, King Charles II regained the throne of England, many regicides fled to the American colonies to escape persecution. This Blue-Blazed trail traveling up West Rock Ridge State Park was used by the Judges in 1660 to get to their Cave, where they could watch for the British ships in New Haven Harbor. This walk will include a Service forester from DEEP as well as a wildlife biologist from CT Audubon.
