Join Master Naturalist Deb Field and members of the Columbia Canoe & Kayak Club for an early morning paddle in the “quiet side” of Mansfield Hollow Lake. We’ll explore the south-east shore of the Hollow, parallel to the Nipmuck Trail. We’ll look for songbirds, waterbirds, and other wildlife and talk about the importance of river water quality to Mansfield Hollow Reservoir. Or you can just enjoy the peace of the water. We’ll launch promptly at 8:30am from the beach area at Columbia Canoe & Kayak Club (see map), head across the lake, and work our way south towards the mouth of the Natchaug River for a round trip of approximately 3 miles. This is flat water but it can be windy at times.
CCKC members are expected to bring their own boats down from the boathouse. Non-members need to supply their own boats/equipment and meet at the Club launch parking area. PFDs are required for all paddlers. Bring sunscreen, water, snacks, and binoculars are recommended. Heavy rain or high winds will cancel.
Pre-registration is required. For more information, please contact the leader.
