Bike Ride through Old Wethersfield, Rocky Hill and Glastonbury, Saturday, June 6th. 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Easy, flat 13 mile ride through Old Wethersfield, the Great Meadows of Wethersfield and Rocky Hill, ferry ride across Connecticut River to farms in Glastonbury and back. Meet at the Keeney Memorial Cultural Center parking lot at 200 Main St, Wethersfield. We’ll start by touring Old Wethersfield highlights such as the Wethersfield Cove and the Broad Street Green, then follow the Heritage Way State Greenway past the Putnam Bridge Trail and into the Great Meadows of Wethersfield and Rocky Hill to Ferry Park, Rocky Hill. We’ll then board the Rocky Hill-Glastonbury Ferry to cross the Connecticut River to see farms in Glastonbury. Bring $4 cash for the roundtrip ferry ride. We’ll return via the ferry and the Great Meadows, and take a different route back through Old Wethersfield. The route is about half paved roads with low traffic, and half gravel farm roads which are closed to traffic. The farm roads go past fertile fields, flood plain forest, and marsh habitat along the Connecticut River. The route is flat and about 13 miles long. All ages welcome. Easy pace. No one left behind. Exact route and ride length may vary according to where the participants want to ride and how far. For more information email ride leader Kevin Sullivan of Bike Walk Wethersfield.
