Annual Open House and Walk the Locks in celebration of National Trails Day. Begin at the restored Keeper’s House at Lock 14 in Hamden, where you can pick up a trail map, trail mix, and a drink and view an exhibit of the former canal and railroad. You can stay at the Lock Keeper’s house, or proceed up to Lock 12 in Hamden where there is an exhibit of the actual lock. 3 miles one way, or 6 round trip. Bike or walk or stroll as far as you want.

Park on the grass in front of the Lock Keeper’s house. Great for families. Wheel chair accessible. You can walk up to Lock 12 in Cheshire and back, 6 miles round trip.
