The walking tour will start at the Museum on Thompson Hill (339 Thompson Road, Thompson) at 12 noon. After 45 minutes of touring the historic village center, we will proceed to the Marianapolis School for an additional 45 minutes of gentle touring of their historic grounds and trails( these will be listed as two separate events. Register for one or both events, either way attendees are welcome to stay for both).
Join us for a walking tour of venerable Thompson Hill, one of Rev. Eliot’s Praying Villages and later the North Society of Killingly before the establishment of the town of Thompson in 1785. (1) Today, “The Hill” and the Thompson Common faced by the Thompson Congregational Church are part of a Nationally Registered Historic District with dozens of distinct homes and buildings. (2) Marianapolis School, formerly the Ream Estate, is nearby and is celebrating 100 years as a school in 2026 besides the 250th of our nation. The walking tour will start at the Museum on Thompson Hill (339 Thompson Road, Thompson) at 12 noon. After 45 minutes of touring the historic village center, we will proceed to the Marianapolis School for an additional 45 minutes of gentle touring of their historic grounds and trails. Restrooms are available at several points and there is no charge for the event. Two Thompson Historical Society buildings will also be open for this event from 11:00 AM to 3 PM.
If staying for full tour it will be up to a 3 mile walk.
