Join the Deep River Land Trust (DRLT) as we hike the Rattling Ridge Trail that connects three of our properties. Start at the Evelyn and Hawthorne Smyth Sanctuary on Pratt Cove off of the Connecticut River, climb through the Rattling Valley Ridge Preserve and descend through the Florence Bidwell Sanctuary. Along the way you’ll catch glimpses of Osprey platforms and depending on leaf coverage snatch views of Pratt Cove and the Connecticut River. The trail also passes along old quarries and farm foundations. If the timing is right we’ll see and hear the Essex Steam Train.

Park at the Deep River Land Trust’s Rattling Valley Ridge parking area at 114 Essex St. (immediately after the bridge over Pratt Cove on the right). Please park perpendicular to the road and as closely as possible.
Cross Essex Street to the DRLT Evelyn and Hawthone Smyth Sanctuary where the hike starts.
