Open Event

Join trail maintainers Jeff and Hugh as they lead a hike through one of the wildest sections of Bigelow Hollow State Park and past a magnificent eagles’ nest on Breakneck Pond.
The hike covers roughly 7 miles, is moderately difficult, and will take 4 to 5 hours. We’ll stop for lunch at the East Shelter on Breakneck Pond.
Meet at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 7, in the large hiker parking lot in Bigelow Hollow State Park in Union. The park entrance is on Route 171, and the entrance is free for Connecticut residents.
Please wear appropriate hiking attire, including closed-toe shoes.
Bring water, snacks, lunch, bug spray and a backpack to carry your personal items.
Plan to arrive a few minutes before 9 a.m. so we can have a prompt start.
We hope to see you there.
