Open Event
On June 7 at 1:00pm, as part of Connecticut’s Annual Trails Day, we will be completing a moderately difficult , easy paced, picturesque hike on Simsbury Land Trust’s Tanager Hill trail. The hike will take us up the ridge before connecting to Penwood State Park, and ascending to the peak of the Talcott Ridge.
This hike includes moderate elevation change, long uphill sections, and is apt to be wet and muddy in some areas. Milder sections traverse woodlands and open meadows before passing over boardwalks spanning vernal pools and wetlands. The hike is approximately 4 miles (round trip) and will take about 2 hours to complete. There is a parking area available and on street parking nearby. Hiking boots are recommended, trekking poles may also be helpful for this hike.
