Are you interested in history? trolleys? a pleasant walk to a river? osprey sightings? If so, come celebrate the 14h year of partnership between Shoreline Greenway Trail and the Shore Line Trolley Museum. We will gather at 10:00 at the Shore Line Trolley Museum, 17 River Street in East Haven, which houses nearly 100 vintage transit vehicles. A Museum volunteer will take us for a ride along the museum’s scenic track through the Farm River estuary. Participants will disembark at a platform to walk to the old dike at the Farm River, visit the remains of an old crushing plant, and talk about its history. After the walk a museum volunteer will take us on a tour of the old trolleys, including the PATH train car that survived 9/11 at the World Trade Center attack. Length of time about two hours. Length of walk: about one mile with some rough terrain. Participants can stay on the trolley and return directly to the barns if they prefer. No dogs, please. For further information, see the Trolley web site at shorelinetrolley.org or the Shoreline Greenway Trail website at shorelinegreenwaytrail.org.
