Meet members of the Bolton Conservation Commission with nationally known arborist Matt Largess, ISA Certified NE-0802 as we identify the diverse mature native trees within an unfragmented forest along a new trail within the Nathan Hale Greenway. Hike to the headwaters of the Hop River. Discuss the latest ecosystem services provided by Proforestation and Natural Area Stewardship and the advantages of allowing nature-based solutions rather than active management to shape a forest. See a very productive vernal pool, the site of stream temperature monitoring and a salamander survey adjacent to numerous love trees where nature has been allowed to take its course.
