Join Great Meadows Conservation Trust’s (GMCT) Tim Lewis, and Connecticut River Conservancy (CRC) staff for a 5 to 6 mile paddle from scenic Wethersfield Cove to Hartford and back. Explore the beauty of the river, view bald eagles, ospreys and great blue herons. Learn about clean water efforts.
We will launch from Wethersfield Cove at 9:30AM so arrive in plenty of time to have your boat unloaded and ready. We will paddle to the former MIRA trash to energy plant and will try to locate the bald eagle nest that is near the facility. If possible, we will paddle past the jetty at the plant to view the Hartford skyline. High tide is at 8:14am so we will have the favor of the current only on the return.
This is an intermediate paddle. Life vests are required. You must provide your own canoe or kayak. Sunscreen, snacks, and water are highly recommended. Heavy rain or high water cancels.
