The event will start and end at Five Points Arts. We will hike 1/2 mile to the neighboring John Brown birth site property and then hike the 3/4 mile loop trail on that property, passing the location of the historic John Brown birthplace.
We will then return along the 1/2 mile connector to Five Points Arts.
Coinciding with the hike, Five Points Arts is holding their highly anticipated “Yarn Bomb”. Community members and interested participants will be displaying a variety of yarn creations in various locations on the property and along the route. So it will be a fun addition to the hike! (If interested in adding a creation, contact Five Points Arts in Torrington). The trail also includes a “Give a Hoot Scavenger Hunt” with yarn owls hidden along the trail. Pick up a map and raffle ticket before the hike and see how many owls you can find. The raffle will be after the hike at Five Points. We give a Hoot! Enjoy the hike!
The trail is mostly flat with an easy climb from Five Points to the John Brown property. It is wooded and footing can be uneven. Boots are recommended. There is close to 800 feet of boardwalk on the two properties.
