Hill-Stead Museum’s Historic Gardens And Trails – Sunday Session
Dog-friendly Educational Walk Family-friendly
Join us for this year’s CT Trails Day! We will be hosting a talk about Hill-Stead Museum’s historic gardens and trails along the Metacomet Ridge. Learn more about the estate, the history of how the gardens and trails were established, how the Sunken Garden was brought back to life, and future plans to revitalize the Wild Walking Garden!
Weather permitting, the talk will include a short walk around the Sunken Garden and down to the old farm complex. In the event of rain the talk will be moved indoors to our Makeshift Theater.
While you’re here, take a walk along the trails, or just enjoy some time in the Beatrix Farrand designed Sunken Garden or the recently installed Pollinator Garden.
Maps will be available if you wish to explore the trails after the talk. Please be sure to wear shoes and attire suitable for potentially muddy paths. Bug spray, hats, and sunscreen are recommended. Be mindful of poison ivy as you walk and tick checks after your visit are encouraged.
Check in will be outside the museum shop in the visitor center.
