Explore The Preserve State Forest, 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 1. Moderate to brisk pace over rolling trails. Trails are rocky and walking sticks are helpful. There will be three stops to observe birds, flora, fauna, and geological features. For a special treat, there will be a free prize drawing at the end of the walk for a $25 gift card to Wild Birds Unlimited of Old Saybrook. Other prizes include a hand-carved walking stick and a book provided by the Connecticut Forest and Park Association.

Meet at 8 a.m. Parking lot located at 1278 Essex Road in Westbrook. Bring water and insect protection, and wear boots. Ages 12 and older. No dogs, please. Heavy rain cancels.
