Meet at Goshen Land Trust’s Pie Hill Marsh parking lot (located at 193 Pie Hill Road) at 9am. Laura Saucier, a Goshen Land Trust Director and wildlife biologist, will lead a hike of the Kobylenski Wildlife Area Trail north to the Fox Brook Trail loop. Spend the morning following Fox Brook and the stone remnants of the mills that mark a time when Goshen was an industrial center. Enjoy the quiet of the woods and wetands in northwest Connecticut. The hiking distance from Pie Hill Road to Route 4 is 0.8 miles. Fox Brook Trail starts across the road and is a 0.7 mile loop. Hikers can coordinate at the beginning of the hike to park a car at the land trust’s parking lot off Route 4 opposite the Fox Brook Trailhead to shorten the hike to 2.4 miles (lot is limited to 2 vehicles), or walk back to Pie Hill Marsh parking lot for a total of 3.2 miles. It is an easy hike with very few hills, but some some stone stepping and wet spots.
