The hike will start at the Air Line State Park Trail parking lot on Leonard Bridge road.

We will be exploring The “Welles Woods” area which was heavily populated in the early 1800’s but mostly abandoned by the 1920’s

Along the way we will point out the sites of several historic homesteads, the old school location and the Mill on Mint Brook

Most of this hike will be on old town roads, old logging roads and unmarked trails.

The hike is approximately 6 miles long and the plan is to walk at a slow to moderate 2 mile an hour pace.

We will follow the Air Line State Park Trail southwest, turn right into the railroad siding, then turn north into Mono Pond State Park.
We will head north, then west then south and return to the Air Line State Park Trail. Then head east returning to the parking area.

This area of Mono Pond State Park, accessible from the Air Line Trail , will soon see phase 1 construction of official multi use trails
