Celebrate Rocky Neck State Park with a morning full of trail fun! We’ll have expert-led walks about the plants, geology, and habitats found at the Park. We’ll also have family fun activities including scavenger hunts, geocaching, and crafts. Whether it’s your first time at Rocky Neck State Park or you visit often, you’ll learn something new! Self-led and Family-fun Activities (ongoing 9A-12P)
Join us for a morning of learning and fun! We’ll have kid-friendly and self-led activities including a scavenger hunt, geocaching, art and games, and crafts. Talk with local environmental organizations about the work they do to keep the water, beach, and forest at Rocky Neck State Park a healthy place to play and explore.
Guided Hikes (registration strongly encouraged)
9:30A – 10:30: Plants of Rocky Neck State Park, led by Eli Terris (TNC)
Skill level: Easy-moderate (accessible)
Join us for a 0.5-mile hike as we explore the plants that are found at Rocky Neck State Park. This walk will be fully accessible and last for about 45 min. Space is limited so be sure to save your spot by emailing Larissa.Graham@uconn.edu.
10:00A – 11:30A: Trails Day Hike, led by Kim Bradley (CT DEEP)
Skill level: Moderate to challenging
Join us for a 2.5-mile hike that winds the trail system of Rocky Neck State Park, with views of the rocky ledges, marsh, ocean and woodlands. This will be a moderate hike with some challenging sections and will take an hour and a half. Space is limited so be sure to save your spot by emailing Larissa.Graham@uconn.edu.
10:30 – 11:30: Geology of Rocky Neck State Park, led by Mike Ross (CT DEEP)
Skill level: Easy-moderate (accessible)
