Join Larry Lawrence & Naomi Davidson of Meshomasic Hiking Club and local birding experts, Michael Corcoran & Christine Penney of Land Heritage Coalition of Glastonbury, for a morning of birding in Connecticut’s first state forest! This hike will consist of a 1.5 mile loop around Del Reeves Pond in Meshomasic State Forest. Created in 1972, the 30-acre pond was built to benefit waterfowl and other wildlife that utilize emergent marsh habitat. Meshomasic, established in 1903, as a working demonstration forest, contains a variety of forest habitats and tree age-classes, providing for a diverse assemblage of forest nesting birds. A mix of history and habitat will make this a hike you won’t want to miss during the height of nesting season!
