Celebrate Connecticut Trails Day with the Northwest Connecticut Land Conservancy staff on a guided hike at Birch Rocks Preserve! We’ll be exploring one of the area’s most peaceful natural landscapes. This easy, rolling walk winds through quiet woodland and gradually leads toward the shoreline of Lake Lillinonah, revealed only as you approach the water’s edge. The trail descends close to the lake—without disturbing sensitive wildlife habitat—providing excellent views while protecting an important foraging area for otters, mink, eagles, and osprey.
Along the way, you’ll pass through spruce and white pine plantations, mature groves of hemlock and dogwood, and cross seasonal brooks. This hike is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the beauty of Birch Rocks Preserve, learn about local conservation efforts, and spend time outdoors with fellow nature enthusiasts.
