Hike with members of the New Hartford Land Trust and Town of New Hartford Open Space Preservation Commission through two Town preserves: the 118-acre Goula Open Space Preserve and the 59-acre protected section of Phillips Farm. Starting near the highest point in Town on Cotton Hill, this trek will wind through meadows, woodlands and working hayfields with long views to the east. Hikers will pass by a pristine open-water wetland that connects the Preserves. You can hike 1.5 miles downhill and get a ride back up to the starting point, opt to add a 1.4-mile new trail loop, walk back uphill for additional exercise and/or add on another trail segment. Dogs are permitted on a leash only. Wear sturdy shoes or boots for a few wet, uneven and rocky areas. Bring your binoculars and cameras! E-mail newhartfordlandtrust@yahoo.com for details and more information. Steady rain cancels. Pre-registration is required. Limited to 17 people.
