Approximately 3.7 miles
10 Open Spots
Enjoy the sights and sounds of spring in the Naugatuck State Forest. The hike begins at Downs Rd. in Hamden at the entrance to the YMCA’s Camp Mountain Laurel. We will use a section of the Quinnipiac Trail and the Sanford Alternate Trail to create a loop hike. This is a 3.7 mile (approximately), moderately difficult hike with rocky sections and hilly terrain; not recommended for beginning hikers. It should take between 2 – 3 hours with stops at points of interest and a lunch/snack break at the Mt. Sanford Overlook before returning to our starting point.
Participants should wear appropriate hiking footwear and bring a snack/lunch and plenty to drink – especially if it’s a hot day.
