Birchbank Mountain offers captivating views of Upper White Hills Brook’s cascades and an overlook of the Housatonic River. Participants can expect moderate hills along the route as they ascend the river slopes, with a total elevation gain of about 350 feet. This hike is part of the Shelton Trails Committee’s 2024 hiking challenge, providing an opportunity for hikers to immerse themselves in the beauty of nature while exploring the area’s terrain. The main hike follows the Level 1 route of the challenge, but participants will have the option to complete the Level 2 hike by adding a brief loop through a rugged area known as Burritt’s Rocks.
