Did you know that Connecticut has a fascinating geology, which the Indigenous inhabitants of this region have used to their advantage for thousands of years? As part of Connecticut Trails Day Weekend, join Museum Educator and Ecologist Susan Scherf from the Institute for American Indian Studies in Washington, CT for a guided walk focusing on the rocks and minerals of the Eastern Woodlands, including traditional uses in Native American communities. Susan will lead this walk to nearby Steep Rock, returning to the museum’s 15th Century Replicated Algonkian Village.
Please wear sturdy footwear and meet at the front of the museum. Although this hike will only be about 1 mile, participants should be aware that portions of the trail can be steep.
Hike does not include museum admission, which can be purchased for a fee before or after the walk. Questions? Please email events@iaismuseum.org.
