This will be a strenuous, but slow-paced hike which explores the western side of the park: the trap rock quarry, Dead Man’s Cave, Judge Cook and Heaton Trails, and the Mill River. There will be some steep climbs and extremely rocky terrain.
In the first part of our hike we will make a steep climb of the Giant’s Head, with great eastward views, and explore the lower and upper portions of Judge Cook’s Oxen Trail. After getting off the Head, we will make our way to the Giant’s right hip on the White Trail, and take in great southward views along the way. After a brief visit to the mouth of Dead Man’s Cave, we will not be entering the cave, we will go back via the Green Trail, taking in the Heaton Trail on the way.  Bring 2 liters (4×16 oz.) of water and lunch/snacks. For more information, contact the leader below.  Preregistration is recommended.
