This year in addition to Hartland Land Trust’s Mill District Nature Preserve, hikers will get a look at HLT’s Bassett-Kell Preserve via our new Red Trail. We’ll start on the Mill District’s Blue Trail, go check for waterfowl in the Beaver Pond, and then veer off onto the Red Trail through the eastern portion of the Bassett-Kell Preserve. We’ll see beautiful forestland and talk about some of the invasive pests that are affecting some of our hemlocks and what HLT is doing to protect them.  Terrain is uneven, steady uphill in spots and may be wet.  Wear sturdy footwear, bring water, take tick/bug precautions and consider bringing trekking poles.
