Open Event

Celebrate the grand opening of Woodsend Trail by exploring Shelton’s Housatonic Woods Preserve on this moderately challenging two-mile guided hike along the heights of the Housatonic River. We’ll make a “lollipop loop” by following Woodsend Trail for one mile to the Paugussett Trail, then using a combination of the Paugussett and a connector trail to complete a loop and return to Woodsend Trail. This route has plenty of ups and downs, water crossings, and occasional rocky footing. Woodsend Trail passes between cliffs in an area known as “the Passageway” marked by the “Tangerine Squeezer.”
This hike may not be suitable for small children due to a sharp drop off near the trail — parents use discretion.
