Hike The Asylum And Mattabesett Trails

Sat. Jun 4

10:30 am

01:30 pm

5.5 miles

Let’s get outside for a brief rock-scrambling-adventurous wander on a trail that pays off big views for each rock scramble. We will cover a small section of the Mattabesett Trail that circumnavigates the Asylum Reservoirs in Middletown. We will travel at a relatively moderate pace (or the pace that seems to work best for the group), but it isn’t easy either – so plan on getting dirty. Details will be provided well in advance. You will need to sign a waiver at the trailhead. Please cancel at least 48 hours prior to event so those on the wait list can attend.

REQUIRED: Water (2 L), bug repellent, sunscreen, snacks, phone, map, headlamp, layer warm enough for overnight temps, hiking poles if you use them. Please review the hike safe list and consider the appropriate items on it. Bring a sense of humor, adventure and a hands-free pack to carry all of this.

TO WEAR: Hiking boots mandatory. Wicking layers (NO cotton), sunscreen and bug repellent.

PLEASE WEAR A MASK IF YOU ARE NOT VACCINATED. If you are not feeling well, have had a recent fever of any kind or have recently interacted with anybody that has been sick, feverish or tested positive for COVID – please take a pass on this event. If you hike with the group and later feel ill or test positive for COVID, you agree to let us know.
