Mystic, as summer arrives, is a scenic and bustling destination beloved by tourists who seek out the historic locale’s many attractions. But just on the edge of town is an oasis of quiet and natural history known as the Stonington Land Trust’s Old Mystic Ridge Preserve. We’ll explore the Ridge’s 26 acres of woods, rock outcrops, stonewalls, glacial erratics, and seasonal streams that are rich with birds, butterflies and dragonflies, and a beguiling assortment of wildflowers, ferns, and other plants. Veteran naturalist and environmental photojournalist Bruce Fellman will lead this mile-plus tour at a leisurely pace perfect for families, photographers, and nature enthusiasts.
